I spotted this on a pallet at a breaker’s in Corby five years ago. It was on its way to the skip. I ended up taking it home…. It had been heavily crashed years before, and the whole front end had been removed, along with the top of the engine – bottom end was scrap as they often are, due to the crash wiping out the exposed ends of the crank, and cracking the cases. I fitted an RF900 front end (a 1mm overbore on the yokes and it fits straight in) and rear wheel (using the RF cush drive and the GSX-R disc). Again, a straight fit and gives me 17in wheels for better tyre choice. Originally intended to fit a Bandit 12 engine but found an original 1052 GSX-R engine with a bad gearbox. Need to swap the box from the scrap gearbox. One day….

It was a GSX-R1100 for free! What could go wrong!

It'll end up costing a bloody fortune - would have been cheaper to buy a runner and tart it up a bit. But where's the fun in that?
